Congor spots.

Hi guys.Can anyone recommend any good spots for a beginner to get his first congor.I live in Belfast and usually go round the Antrim coast.I've done a search on the forum and seen guys having luck in C'fergus harbour,were would be best there?Also any tip or methods employed?

hi sci, if its conger u want get down to bangor pier. ronald and davy regulary post reports of the pier and there is some big congers caught this year there. i'm sure once one of them logs on they will tell u more.

to fish bangor your best bet is to use a boat rod and reel and fish in the boulders on the back of the pier ,you could fish the steps beside were the trawlers tie up ,you dont get as many fish though . use ashort 12/18 " heavy mono trace tied to a 8/0 o'shanessy hook (bronzed) and a good swivel , either a mackerel head and guts or a side .dead simple ,make sure you leave the reel out of gear or the drag wound back or you risk loosing rod and reel !!
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

iv heard of a resident 50lb plus conger in howth harbour, iv been told it has been caught several times and released... never seen it though
