Hi everyone,

If this is Drew that used to run the k2 Fishing Index website, then we've chatted before, Mate. I was keen to learn how to beach-cast. I have all the gear (12 foot Leeda Olympic Beachcaster and various rigs) but don't really know what the heck to do, but am keen to learn.

I assume it is now the off-season and not a good time to fish?

Any advice welcome please from anyone. I live in Belfast.

Cheers,

Dee Dog

hi deedog. in my opinion the shore fishing season hasn't kicked off yet. once the chill comes in then u can bet the cod and decent whiting will start to hit the shores and when the cod start to hit the shores u have a great chance of catching a decent fish. u'll never forget ur first big shore caught cod. just get out there mate.

As long as your keen and don't mind the cold you should be fine.As Rab says "just get out there".There is a lot of info on this forum on local marks and tactics and if you can get out with some other forum members on the odd occasion (not to the pub.Drew,Livid and Hairy may be a bad influence    )You should learn the basics very quickly.

As for Learning to cast you could try http://www.ulstercastingclub.org

by looks of it its cushendun thats fine by my group and drew.

If no one disagree then can we all take it that the meet is fri at cushendun and all names above are attending. And all we need is a time.

If we dont sort soon we still be talking were and when come wed.

Looking forward to it. and drew how you getting up to meet mate.

And new guy with kit why not turn up for this meet. I can tell you know these guys are very useful and more than happy to help as the same people helped me improve and they still do every meet as you never stop learning.

And the meets are great fun someone always does something daft.
