shock leader?

#1 Post by martin32 »

Have a new abu baitcasting multiplier with 13lb main line what would be a good lb shockleader line .Most of my rigs are made of 40lb rig body and 20lb hook length.

Mate. Get your Rigs Tide with 60 and your Shocky the same... Use 5oz/6oz leads, they'll cover you for pretty much everything...

If its only a baitcaster he may want to use a lighter weight to fish closer in, if thats the case a lighter shock leader will do. the old rule comes in weight X 10 = shockleader.
4 X 10 = 40

the reel is a baitcaster as all abu's and 7ht sized reel are classed so the rule of 1olbs for every oz of lead stands i have to agree with drew get your rigs tied with 60lb mono at least

13 lb is Ok over clean ground but you need to go up to 20+ for heavier stuff. The smaller reels dont cast as well with heavy line

personally i use 15lb or 0.035mm mono and a 60lb shock leader un less you are fishing straight into heavy kelp or snags it should be all you need
