#1 Post by keithmc »

Does any one know of any venues in north dublin/louth area for catching some half decent whiting? Any info would be great, cheers lads.

the larger whiting seem to be in decline over last few years. i have tried quite a bit for them and it is very difficult to get one over 30cm. odd decent one will come from around howth fishing off to the left of the west pier. east pier could throw a better stamp but it's rough ground. odd 30cm plus comes from bailey lighthouse but most are small enough. used to get good whiting at baliscaden, dun laoighaire and killiney. more likely to get big pouting after dark now at dun laoighaire. coliemore harbour can see some good ones if you're willing to travel south a little. fish a neap tide, n have some 7oz grippers with ya! decent codling will get caught here too.

I've had plenty from Killiney beach on occasion, soon as it got dusk, they came in. Small, though
