Strangford Lough "area" :P - 15/10/06

#1 Post by Livid »

People: Myself, Hairy, Drew

Duration: 5pm - 9pm

Tide: Low and flooding

Weather: Gorgeous, brilliant night!

Bait: Rag, Mack, Launce

Rigs: 2/3 hook flappers, various conger rigs

Results: Codling, Pollack, Wrasse (Ballan and Corkwing? i forget!), edible Crabs and almost a Mackeral grr..

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:

I'm struggling to remember all the details actually as i'm wrecked, i think more species may have been caught. It's seemingly a good Conger mark, we seen several runs and 1 landed that weighed in at 7lbs exactly, last night the same guy caught and killed :( a 26lb fish, sad! i'll add some pics if they allow me later :roll: gorgeous evening. I personally caught a tiny Codling and almost landed a mental Mackeral, it was caught right at my feet with a bait intended for Dogs or something, not a fookin Mackeral! A few crabs also caught, i got one that must have weighed a pound. Hairy got a nice little Codling that was maybe a pound and a half. I'm away to eat my curry, will update later.

The only gear i lost was when drew cast out a trace of mine and *snap*, sucks worse as he was using a big spinner of mine on the bottom as a weight. :cry:

That wreck facinated me today as i've never really seen one stick out of the water before, there was some guy standing on it when we drove past :shock: There looked to be another part of the wreck or a seperate one about 200 yards up from it too, anyone know what kind of vessels these were? I must hunt out that Irish Wrecks online site again, very interesting.

I don't see why this should be kept a secret, it wasn't a perticularly outstanding mark or anything so i'll go ahead and post the pics, most will automatically know where it was. :roll:
