Report;
went to east clonea first had a nice bass about 3lb first cast followed shortly by a flounder that must have been close to 3lb. lots of weed so decided to move to the middle of beach about 1 mile.
the weed was not as bad there, and in the next hr. had 2lb bass,coalie about 1.5lb and another flounder that was over 2 lb.
would like to have fished on but ran out of lugs, all in all a enjoyable few hours in the "surf."
am going to try for a specimen bass or 2 over the next 3 days. 8)

HI Cortaz

I was working in th eClonea Strand hotel last night and thought of giving you a call but decided against it. Lovely spot. Actually had a look to see if anyone was out fishing as there was a nice small surf and the tide was most of the way in. Is the middle beach the one in front of the hotel. and if so do you fish near the rocks at either end? Thanks m8, PM if you wish.

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Nice one Art :D ,

Myself and Eddie Tried Ballyquin last Thursday but waaayy too much weed to fish in comfort - full of that real heavy kelpy stuff :evil: - packed up and went to Cunn. - Eddie got 1 dogfish (his first ever) and I blanked :( - missed one really good bite at end of session cos I was mooching around the beach looking at what was being washed up :oops:

Give me a shout when u going next - would like to help catch that specimen :D :D :D :D

the hotel is the westeren end of beach, to the left there is a car pk./toilets, (mid. section) lots of bass taken here, inc several specimans this yr.
left of toilets the headland is good for spinnin,
will be fishin there over the next 3 days tryin for a speciman.
fished clonea 30 times this yr. only failed to get bass 2/3 times, mainly due to weed.

Weed rarely covers the whole beach. It is as well to move down along the beach until you find a clear spot.I always start on the east side and move westwards.
