Crosshaven, Cork Harbour Area

A group of us are heading to Crosshaven/Cork Harbour this weekend for some fishing.

Has anyone got any shore marks that are fishing well that they'd like to share??

Camden or Monkstown would be your best bet, try DonalDowmney, I'd say he's an expert in that area.

Just a question about Camden. When you park at the top of the hill by the old gaa club, do you then walk down the steep (very small trail?) Or do you walk down the dirt road to the beach and walk around the point.

Tried going down the small trail, but the tide was nearly full in. hahaha!!!

Very big tides this weekend for monkstown with low water at 12.30 on sat and high at 18.25 (4.4m). De wall is fishing for cod at the moment with crab the best bait. Your best time to fish it is on (sat) would be between 12.00 and 14.00. outside these time the flow in the river would be to strong to hold bottom. Camden is fishing for cod (smaller) bass and plaice.
There is a web site in links Steve Lipiniski,s World worth a look he fishes the camden area a lot.

Its going to be hard to get some crab or at least enough for a good session, i'm hoping the fish wont turn their noses up at Lug and Mussels either!!!

Can you buy Crab around that area, Crosshaven, Monkstown??

Frozen black lug wrapped on with a strip of squid did the business for me last year mate, on saying that, it was a sight later in the year when I started fishing for them.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

I'll be bringing, Lug, Rag, Squid and Mussel, and some Mackerel and Sand Eel . . .that should cover the bases i hope . . .

Crab are only needed for de wall. The camden area is fishing well for bass using razorfish. Forget de wall for night fishing go to the timber in monkstown.

where exactly is the timber donal. is lug and squid any use at de wall yet or is it a bit early for there
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Not sure where the timber is (i assume it's the pier) was down Monkstown last week and took nothing on lug but crab, razor,sandeel and mack took a few(not all my baits,a couple of guys down there using combinations of bait)Razor seems to be accounting for alot of flatties...

Most popular marks are the grassy patch, the pole, for people too lazy to walk, or under the pylons at he monkstown end of the wall.

fished at Camden for first time in the summer. It was a bit packed with people feathering, mostly across my lines! The rocks south of the longer pier looked good but i couldn't find an access point. Can anyone tell me if there is a way out onto them. thanks...

When you drive to the gates of the fort turn up right and park by the club house. Take the pathway on the lefthand side, going downhill, this will bring you down to an area known as the pipe.

Only fished by the pipes once this summer
but caught an 8lb bass
Hopefully when I catch him next year I'll have a specimen :lol:
