I'm using a Daiwa 7HT on my BZe, but that's just because I had one handy. It casts fine. It might be a little big for the rod. Something else like an Abu 6500 might be good too. You might prefer something with a level wind if you do a lot of fishing at night.

Have you considered an Abu 5500 sized reel? loaded with 10 or 12 lb mainline they are the business on bass rods :D

Even a bad days fishing is better than working.

if possible try to track down an abu 5500 mag elite, itll be the ideal multi for it, as for fixed spool i would recommend the shimano baitrunner 8000 for a nice balanced outfit, look after them though, they dont really like saltwater, but excellent reel for the job
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

i use an origional 5000 on my baitcaster and have had doubke figure cod and pollock on it with surprising ease. they are a surprisingly powerful reel.i removed the bushes and put in magnito bearings(my ould fellas an engineer).no use it on my carp rod for light shore fishing and it is a pleasure to use. casts about 120yards wit a 2 ounce. the penn generations look a nice little reel.u can guess whats on the top of my christmas list!!
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Doh, just realised posting a ebay link for one person on a forum ain't the brighest idea

I'll blame the wife for my lapse in concentration
