Silva Z1, picked one up last week and was highly impressed with it so far. Operates off disposable batteries or you can use your own rechargeable ones. Comes with headband mounted power pack (2 holders for 2xaa batteries fitted onto headband) or a belt carried power pack, holds 4 x c batteries. I paid 100 euro for it but its the best lamp Ive used compared to other inferior things around the 50 - 60 mark. Main thing I liked was that it wasnt purely operated on a rechargeable basis, as thats a pain in the proverbials for impromptu fishing trips. I recommend it.

Hi Shockleader 50. The same happened to me! I contacted samalite about it at they told me to jump start it? I bought a lead from them about a £5 and plugged one end into my lamp and the other into a fellow club members lamp. It gives enough of a boost/charge to allow your light to recharge. Works every time as I've had to give a few other people a boost also. The lead has 2 ends like the one which goes from your headlamp to your battery.

Worth a try anyway for a £5. Do you know anyone else that has a samalite as you do need 2 to get it to work?

Or Samalite themselves will get it started if you send the battery pack back, that's what I was going to do until the man told me what they would be doing with it when they received it. Giving it a boost before putting it onto the charger!

I'm using a petzel myo 5 with a slight conversion (6v 4ah rechargeable battery) lasts for ages on a single charge and you've got the option of either full beam of 100m+ or leds at 3 stages ,never had any problems . about £50 all in .
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

I've had a petzl zoom for ages but the problem was that it operated on a flat 4.5V battery and they were getting hard to locate around my way and a 4 bucks a throw they're not cheap. What I have done is brought a 6V rechargable battery, changed the bulb and stuck the battery in a bum bag thingy. Total cost for the conversion was 15 bucks and I can still use the original type battery if I want.

Shockleader50 you could try one of these places for a new battery. It might and I say might be a little cheaper.
