Berkley Gulp

#1 Post by Bulldug »

Hi m8's,
Has anybody tried out any of the Berkley Gulp series of baits? And if so what were the results?
I've just gone and bought some of the 6'' sandeel ones, when
I give them a go I'll post the results here.

complete waste of money. For the price of them you would be better buying fresh lugs or crab

I have, but I think I'm in the minority. As far as I'm concerned, they can be an excellent lure.

They seem to work for some people/places, not for others. Try them and see is all I can say.

Have a look at Octobers Total Sea Fishing Magazine. Daz fished in a comp in which Gulp was the only bait allowed. 50 anglers and only a few flounder caught.

Best thing I can say about that is that it does somewhat prove that if there is absolutely no bait available anywhere whatsoever of any description, short of putting a cheese sandwich on your hook you would have a (small) chance of catching with this stuff. On that basis alone, it may be worth putting a pack or two in your box. If there was any form of "proper" bait available however, it would be staying there!
