Hook Patterns?

I've always been a great fan of Aberdeens for my General Fishing.
Does anyone have any other preferences? I don't suppose there's an Aberdeen out there with a Baitholder Barb up the Shank?

there is.. kamasan black aberdeen worm hooks.. i use em as much as i can...

I have used them a couple of times, they were in a rig kit I bought from gemini. The one problem is when the fish is deep hooked it can do your fingers trying to get the hook out.

Iknow.........use a disgorger.

owner do aberdeen with baitholder barbs, expensive but great hook
also in bigger sizes mustad bass aberdeens with baitholder, only from 2/0 up i think though

the most of my fishing on the shore gets done with grauvell sickle hooks or mainly kamasan b940 or b940M
sometimes mustad 3261bln or neons in smaller sizes

I'd have to agree on the b940's never had reason to fault them...
Black Aberdeens are pretty much da Shizz.

b940's for general, use match pattern on mixed ground or when using light lines, spade ends for scratchin, semecircles for bunches of maddies/ small kings. mustad do a 'blue' hook that is useful for rough stuff as it holds fish in heavy swell but bends out of rocks. tried the sickle hooks Phil has mentioned- reckon they're useful for dogs with fish strip baits??? owner have some nice hooks. got some red ones recent with barbs on em. look the part for lug and maddie combo's, time will tell?!

I'm a fan of Aberdeens myself, either B940's when general fishing for whiting, flatties etc with worm baits, Mustad 3261BLN for heavier work such as floating sandeel/ragworm for pollock or Mustad blue Aberdeen for lighter beach work, mainly flattying with worm baits.

Cod fishing I like Musatd 90721BR in 4/0 or 2/0 for codling as the wider gape is good for crab and mussel without masking the point. In the last year however I have tried and been impressed with Varivas Big Mouth from Veals. Similar pattern and gauge but quite a bit cheaper. That said I don't like to buy exclusively from Veals as I try and keep the shops where I get bait with business.

The 90721BR however isn't as strong as the Viking which comes into it's own on heavier ground.
