Razorfish

#1 Post by gwalsh »

ive bein fishing an area where a beech meets a rocky outcrop on and off for the last few months, i tend to normally use rag and peeler crab, just dawned on me last nite after a few bottles of wine, out of all the bass ive caught from this area ive never caught one on peeler crabs....so in the interest of science ive decided to give razorfish a bash today, anybody have much success with them for bass? there are loads of shells washed up on the shore where i fish so fingers crossed!! ill post results and hopefully photos tonite.............

Every bass I have been fortunate enough to catch at Garretstown strand in Cork fell to razor.... lug and crab were ignored strangely enough.

Found them very good for plaice and useful enough for flounder, never caught bass on them but I've not done that much bait fishing for bass anyhow (lure fishing mainly)

Caught small turbot on strips of razor tipping rag at Benone a couple of years ago. Mainly use it off the rocks with lug, crab or mussel for cod with a bit success.

Razorfish can be deadly for Bass on some Waterford marks after a good on shore blow. I think they get churned up in a storm and the bass come on the scent in the days after.

they work for most fish after a blow, and are excellent for plaice and haddock on the boat once they go off.....
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
