If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

Ronald or Davy are the men to ask as this is their patch but for shore conger work I use a Greys Nitra and Daiwa sl30 loaded with 30lb mainline. Perhaps overgunned but you never know what might turn up :D

I may be well off the mark here but IMO I would go for a 6' boat rod especialy off the back of the pier as you are mainly fishing holes between the rocks .If you are planning to fish from the front a heavy beach rod would be fine.

You need the boat rod for the back of the pier lee ,you are mainly fishing down holes between boulders at biggest 4feet across up to 10 feet deep , beach caster would be fine on the inside of the pier ,just a bit ackward on the outside though i'm sure you could chuck out on top of the kelp and hope
even a 50lb class strugles sometimes as you have to bully fish out of the boulders .

it would be a good idea to use 80lb mono as a rubbing leader cos the rocks are sharp,it also gives something to lift a conger out with

Conger Meet

#20 Post by StevieC »

Sorry I missed this shout lads I've been busy at home and internet access at work is currently out of bounds!! Would def like a crack at the congers if you're willing to accept an apprentice. Perhaps you'll put up another shout whenever you're headin down again. What size hooks....6/0 or bigger? Weights...5/6oz plains?
