Interesting that you share an ip address with IHAVECRABS..
Ha ha ha ha ha ha :D Thats really clever.....
Personally, whether they come in 15th, 17th, 1st or 100th I think its great that theres a set up in this country whereby the ordinary Joe on the street can aspire to heading off and representing his country in some form or another. Its probably the only sport I know that this could happen in without years upon years of gruelling training. Sure you may need a bit of luck along the way but sure what odds. Does anyone in this country really care that Ireland finished 15th? If so, why?
There are currently thousands of anglers in clubs etc across the country whose goal all year has been to qualify for the master angler, busy putting in the research for the next comp, working out point permutations etc etc. Guys that are that enthusiastic about their sport should indeed be rewarded. And if by some stroke of luck the 10 or 12 "real" anglers have a bad day at the masters, whose faults that? As for your remark in relation to
Well the boys who do it as a pastime should stick to the mackeral bashin off the harbours and leave the real anglers to get on with it.
That just about sums up your contribution thus far to this site. Are we not here to encourage others, learn from others etc. Are you one of these complete snobs who look down your nose at everyone else on the beach? I've met your type before I'm sure, pop over for a quick hello with the fella fishing beside you to get grunted at and ignored. Thankfully, lads like yourselves are in the minority. There are some fine fine anglers contributing to this site, leave them and the rest of us in peace.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial

I'm wondering why my post was deleted from this thread which was only saying that it might well still be worth going to see the master angler which was still on topics while this stuff remains. What I did say in my deleted post was the rules for team selection have changed my point being why are you hijacking this lads topic which is pretty rude.

I am at a loss with all this stuff about the Irish team and the Master Angler. If there are only a hand full of 'good anglers' competing in the Masters why are these guys not on the Irish team every year or are they, what's the definition of a 'good angler' and who has the right to categorise people that fish in competitions like the Mastes, into groups of 'good' and 'not so good' to put it mildly. The other point I'm having trouble with is that all the guys qualify by winning their club masters, does this not mean they are good anglers.

Ok lads - anyone uses these boards to abuse other users (including by pms) will be banned and we may inform their ISP. I am seriouly considering going down this route with Larry- DSL service can be terminated by ISPs for thiskind of nonsense. jd

well for those of you who wish to come down and watch the masters, enjoy it and take in what you can, ignore all the kill joys out there.
if you are down i might see you there, if im not too busy catching fish.....which is a good posibility!!!!!
plus as far as the team goes, they were away, didnt do great, but sure some of the top match anglers and guys well experienced on the world stage were on the team....so to me it was a good enough team, but the fishing in portugal was scratchy with 1 fish being enough to win some of the zones.
also congratulations must go to heiko for finishing in 3rd place in the individuals at the world boat angling champoinships, it folows his recent master angler win and efsa european individual gold quite well!!!!!
