People:Myself and a mate

Duration: 07:00 - 17:00

Tide: Low - High - Low, 3.7m variance

Weather:Drizzle early on then broken cloud with a fair W breeze, fairly dirty water

Bait: Lures above and below

Rigs:

Results:12 Bass from 2 to 8lb

Report:

Started early at low water on a mark I discovered earlier in the week and it quickly gave up a fine 8lb fish to Cliff on a popper in 18" of water no more than 10ft from the rod tip, this was followed up with a nice 3 1/2lb fish for me. We fished the tide up for another few hours on the mark feeling hopefull but the water got dirtier and no more fish showed.

A move along the coast followed by lunch and we where back fishing the top of the tide down on a diff mark, slow start till about 1hr into the Ebb then things kicked off with a fish slashing my popper but not connecting properly, a change of lure to a kilty and bang Bass on - a nice fish of 4lb or so. The action got better as time went on for the next few hours with me having another 6 fish in the 3 - 5lb bracket and my mate having another 3 fish between 2 and 4lb. We both lost 4 fish each too on the same mark but could hardly complain given the results. The last fish I lost about 5yards out after a hectic scrap it was in the 7/8lb bracket, cest la vie.

All in all an amazing day, made it worth the hours put in recceing on previous trips. Cant wait to get back though I'm sure I wont enjoy the same results.

Marty (A very happy angler :D )

P.S. ALL FISH RETURNED ALIVE AND WELL

Well done Marty. A super session. There's a lot of merit in that old saying, "time spent on reconnaissance is time well spent".

nice one marty, well done.i`ll have to take a run down with you some time and you can show me how its done.i`d love to get my first bass.

p.s. we found a new spot for mullet on sunday, poss 200-300 fish swimming around and its easier to keep them in one area feeding.i`ll give you a shout when we head down again

Nice one, Marty. We know where you caught them, but the question now is, where did you release them? And could you release the next batch somewhere in Donegal?
