I forgot to loosen of the star drag on my reel and the drag is stuck and can no be tightened past a cartain point is there any thing to be done to fix this. Thanks

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the better explanation as to what was wrong - sounds to me like you have got oil/grease contaminating the drag washers.

Its easy enough to fix - have you had the reel apart before?

If you have, remove the drag washers and clean them using lighter fluid, also clean the main gear which the drag washers sit into. Lightly grease the teeth of that gear when putting back together but make sure that the drag washers, the steel washers that go between them and the inside face of the gear are clean.

Make sure you put the steel washers back in the same order that they came out.

Thanks for that I will try that I think that's what the problem is as there is some dirty grease aroung the star. Thanks again.
