Tide:high approx 10pm

Weather:dull, rainy, light breeze, warm enough

Bait:long sand-eel type lure. (I think it's called a German sprat?)

Rigs:

Results:1 coal-fish, 1 mackerel, 2 codling and 1 sand-eel.


Report:I walked from one tip of the beach to the other taking 3 casts every 40 yards. The coal-fish was about 1lb. The mackerel was over a pound and put up a nice fight. One codling was about 1lb and he put up a good little scrap too. The other codling was hilarious. It was about 2 inches long at most; it was smaller than the lure!! I hooked the sand-eel in the side. He must have thought he was swimming along side his brother.

Nice fishing there John. Never saw a cod or flounder on a spinner before, always great to get a surprise. 8)
Want to do some spinning myself around greystones/newcastle/5-mile area with some light tackle but was wondering if your fish came at distance, which I may not be able to reach with it?

None of my casts were more than 100 yards. A lot of my retrieves are parallel to the beach about 30 yards or less out. I think there is a deep gully that runs right up the beach. It's almost like a little trench from what I can make out. I think the fish swim along this??? I'm open to corrections.
