Bray harbour 23/07/06

People:Me

Duration:6.30pm-10pm

Tide:HT 10:45pm

Weather:Sunny and clear

Bait:Large mackeral strips

Rigs:1up 1 down

Results:1 Small dab, lots of crabs and a small boat.

Report:Not much happened, not many bites until the rod doubled over and started to move in the rest. Struck into something heavy and had the rod bounce all over the place in my hands, thought i was into something good but whatever it was took off on a fierce run.(Was such a fierce run it pulled me off balance while i struggled with the drag on the new reel). How and ever the line went slack and i was left shouting obscenities. On retrieving i found that the last six foot of my 60lb leader was badly abraded and my 1/0 pennel was gone. I'm not sure but I wonder if this could have been a tope, given it was a plain mackerel bait. Will never know but any similar experience stories welcome. rest of the day was dead.
Cheers
Davy
