Hi,
I'm heading to Ballinskelligs for a fishing holiday in three weeks time.
I would appreciate any advice on marks to fish in the area. I am looking to fish from the shore, mainly rock marks but anywhere that fishes well really - float, spinning, fly and fishing the bottom.
I would also like to know where the nearest tackle shops are that also sell bait. Finally would like to know where I can dig a few worms.
Thanks in advance,

have a look at the shore marks on this site (http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/) for details of Shore marks on the Ring of Kerry.
Then check out ttp://www.cfb.ie/fishing_in_ireland/tac ... /kerry.htm for tackle shops in Kerry; Tadhg O'Sullivan's shop in Waterville is the nearest one to Ballinskelligs. He sells live bait and provides local knowledge of marks as well.
We may bump into each other fishing the rock marks, as I'll be in Waterville from 13th Aug - 27th Aug. :)

If it's rock fishing you are after then Culoo in Valentia is a good spot. I would also recommend float fishing for pollack and wrasse off the large flat rocks down the road to the lighthouse on the island. Sandeel spun slowly behind a samll bomb weight are excellent here too.
Mackeral for bait are guaranteed in Culoo almost every cast.
Be wary of fishing the lower rocks at culoo as there is a serious wash here and numerous lives have been lost here.
In general there is a load of fishing potential for you down here and if you are interested in going out in a boat I would recommend a chap called Nealie Line of Arazumuth house in Valentia. He does evening trips for 4 hours for €150 and can't do enough to help you out. I brought my young lad out there a couple of weeks back and it was a very fruitful session with 5 species in total including some nice sized pollack and ling. Nealie will supply all you need.
Beaches to fish are Derrynane (far side of Waterville) and Finnians bay to the right hand side off the rocks is also productive for bass with lures cast across the bay.
Best of luck and enjoy the nicest part of the country IMHO.

Thanks for the info.
I have checked out some of the marks mentioned in the posts before. This will be my third trip to Ireland fishing - we have been based at Castlecove east of Waterville before and have not explored many marks to the west of Waterville.
We checked out the lighthouse at Valentia - it looked good but it was too rough for us to fish that day. I am familiar with Tadhg O'Sullivan's but was hoping there might be something a little closer. We haven't ventured to Culoo as we were put off by the warnings but maybe we will check this out.
Are there any good mullet marks in the area? We found some good mullet marks at Castlecove and they are much than the ones we have back home.
Thanks,
