Fishing & camping anywhere in Ireland

I have next week off and am thinking of spending three or four days on a fishing trip. The family is still abroad on holidays, which means I have the luxury of going on a pure fishing holiday combined with camping for sheer handiness.

I didn't really plan this as the time to myself is an unexpected bonus.

Question is, can anyone recommend a good place for shore fishing anywhere in Ireland that could give me a good crack at the following: spinning for pollack, coalies and mackerel: fishing for flatties, wrasse, mullet and the elusive bass.

Other species a bonus. Bringing all the shore gear so I can be versatile in what I fish for. I'm also bringing a 7 and half foot 30-50lb boat rod and reel that I use for close-in fishing off piers and rock platforms for conger but I've never really tackled the beasts on my own.

I'm looking somewhere fairly quiet away from busy places, but having a pub nearby wouldn't be a problem! A bait/fishing shop nearby would be a bonus.

I live in Co. Armagh but don't mind travelling north south east or west.

I've read the recent posts on South Donegal (Teelin, St John's Point) and they look good but I'm willing to travel most places.

All suggestions welcome.

I have posted previously about St. John's Point and I would highly reccommend it.

As GG says, St John's point is a cracking spot. You even have a chance at a specimum if you play your cards right 8) and the camp site, well it really is second to none, very friendly and very clean. The only thing is watch out for the phantom snorer. Apparently he can keep you up all night with the noise he makes :shock: :shock: :lol: :lol:

If you fancy travelling a little further afield try Doolin, Co. Clare. Brought 5 kids down for June Weekend and everyone caught! (quite a feat as all under 10) - Wrasse, Pollock, Rockling, Mackerel - all from the same mark 10 minutes walk from the camp site. Lots more marks available - and several good pubs within walking distance. Camp site is v. good, cooking, shower facilities etc.
