Pollution?

#2 Post by drseafish »

On Saturday morning I heard that an accidental spillage of I assume sewage was released into Dungarvan bay on Friday afternoon whilst commissioning the new sewage plant in Ballinacourty? I know the water was cloudy on Friday evening (east wind) but may be this was another factor why the fishing was not so hot. It may not be true, did anyone else hear anything?

Yes there was a (spillage) if you want to call it that. Some asshole emptied a slurry tank into the water but got caught. The beach was closed for a few hours.

I think I was up the beach from you Cortaz. Was fishing a little patch of reef/low rough with a gully behind it at HW. Saw 4 or 5 other guys much further down out in the water so I assume that was ye.

Don't know how you fish this place at LW, tried out to the left of all those cages with no joy. Did manage 9 bass and a silver eel over HW but bar slack tide the weed was absolutley brutal and the bass were very very small - all schoolies about the pound mark - way off even minimum size and I missed as many more.

hi laimo
was us alright, the bass are small because they pass through the nets. try the extream right of the cages at l.w. good to lure fish here lots of fish 3lb+ some days you can see them, only 1/3 ft. water. at a guess
in the past weeks there have been 6/8, 8/ 10lbers+ taken there. have had bass there to 12.5lb.
that patch you fished is very good to lure fish at h.w.
