Fishing Mayo

Anyone have any productive marks around Westport, not targeting anything in particular just want a bend in the rod.

loads of big mullet down at the harbour if you have the patience for that

Was looking for something a little easier target heard they can be seriously temperamental and picky

Try a search of old reports on Westport, should be loads of info.

How did you get on here. Only seen this now. The beaches in the west are fishing ok along with the channels for Ray and Huss etc

Still haven’t got a chance to try anywhere busy with work and weather being as poor as it has been have scuppered plans

Likewise. Weather is absolute cat here in the west as in showers etc. still warm thou. Going to chance it over that way myself over the weekend

A stingray was caught in clew bay there last weekend on the boats so anything is possible

Got a couple hours in. Evening, Lecanvey pier.
Came to realise how poor shop bought rigs are, pulled in about 10 doggies lost 2 or 3 more to poor rigs (overtightened crimps and loose knots). Fished slack water and about 3.5 hours of the ebb. Just doggies but the bit of action was enough to satisfy.
