North Dublin 04.09.2023

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 04/09/2023
Where: North Dublin
Who: Myself
Duration: 19:00-21:30
Low Water: 21:00
Equipment: 10ft Spinning Rod
Lure: Berkley DEX Longshot Cotton Candy 140mm
Conditions: Water like glass after hot sunny day
Result: 43.5cm Bass, 2 small pollock and 2 crabs

With the good weather we've been having, the low tide coinciding with sunset and the time of year, I knew there would be plenty of bass around! When I got to the mark I got really excited because there was small baitfish everywhere :D At first I caught a small pollock that was the same size as the lure lol then foul hooked another small pollock shortly after. Then the bass showed up and started hitting the baitfish all around me, the water was only a few feet deep so I could see and hear the splashing of the bass running up the baitfish so I cast my lure to the swirls and then bang I was into a fish! After a little fight I brought the fish back to shore for a measure and quick pic before releasing. I fished a few more hours after that but only caught a few crabs

Nice fishing Gonzo. We have to make the best of the good weather over the next few weeks while we get it.Heading down the west this weekend really looking forward to it.The weather is to be a bit cooler but more importantly the winds are to be light.Tight lines.

That would be my guess since they don't look very much like whiting, would you think they're something else? poor cod maybe?

Well done Gonzo! I haven’t logged on or fished in a long time, so delighted to hear you are still catching!
