Specimen Ballan Wrasse

#1 Post by ESC+RC »

Was over on inishmeain last weekend and got in a few days fishing. The weather was beautiful. In fact it was a bit too sunny would have preferred it to be a bit more overcast.Got to the mark at high tide and fished for a couple of hours with two nice Pollack to 5 pounds caught.Saw a lot of fish at the surface so put on a small spinner and spent a hour catching some Macs though they were a bit on the small size.Switched back to fish for Pollock and broke the top of the rod bringing a nice Pollen up the ledge. The third time l’ve done that in a year.

The next day got up at the crack of dawn and went back to the same spot and caught some nice Pollack to 6 pounds on a shad. Was reeling in near a ledge near the surface when I saw a fish dart out and take the lure and then dive back down under the ledge. Was into a good fish and luckily had the drag set quite tight so was able to keep it out of the kelp. After a nice fight a beautiful Ballan Wrasse of 49cm and 4.76 pounds was landed.Quick measure and weigh and put straight back in .Fished for a few more hours with nothing much but a few small Pollock so packed up for the day.Was ready for the pub by this stage.

Fished the next day at a new mark and caught about a dozen Pollock to 6 pounds. All the Pollock seamed to be near identical to each other you would think you were catching the same fish over and over again.Anyway an excellent weekends fishing with the Ballan Wrasse been the highlight. :D :D

I've done the odd one... :D

That picture is fine to me. You should send as many pictures as you can. Basically don't give them any reason to reject or question your claim. If the IFSC have no seen a Spro mat they may want to see it, but they should have. If you didn't have a witness to capture and measure, get the form signed by a local Peace Commissioner. Scan and email the claim form and pictures. Ask for a confirmation of receipt. Sit back and wait.
