drone fishing

Hi. I am new to Ireland and normally fished using a drone to drop my lines out. I see there was a bit of a discussion a year ago on this but no updates.

I was wondering if I dropped my lines about 350m off the beach in the area about 500m south of the Boyne river entering the sea whether there would be anything to target.

Any advice welcomed.

I stay in Drogheda so any advice around this area would be grand.

I heard of tope and good bull Huss been caught out in the shipping lane way out so yes have a go is the only way to find out hope this helps

Not too many Tope this time of year, maybe crab baits for smoothhounds.

Thanks for info ITs Ofishial. Gots lots to learn, i would have used pilchards for smoothhound, but I suppose different waters different eating habits.

Generally the beaches in that areas are very shallow. Maybe a drone going a few hundred metres out is way over casting the fish. Laytown I mean a bait in the surf is all u want 30 yards max

Thanks cd07. The idea is to look for those fish that are normally a bit deeper. Are you saying the water at that depth would be similar to about 30 yards out? I would normally have various rods in, with one as you suggest for the normal casting range.

I am also open to ideas on better areas if you have any, was looking possibly at Clogherhead

Can't say about Clogherhead as I'm not familiar with there but outside of the boyne shipping lane generally the beaches in the area are quite shallow. Id say drone fishing out from the rocks at portrane/donabate would give you a good shot at tope and ray

yeh , I tested ran the drone and saw the distance at low tide, so probably best to drop at low tide as it starts coming in to max distance. I am looking to buddy up with anyone fishing in the Drogheda area to pick up a few pointers. Still need to buy a rod (Or rods here so need to understand what I need. If there are any "master coaches" in the area......
