Donegal Bay, July 2021 , Underwater Video

#1 Post by johnwest »

My recent report lamented the lack of mackerel and poor fishing over the sand, here's a short video revealing the true story;

Great footage Paddy. Its amazing that you hadn't a bite in 2 hours there, you would have bet your life that there wasn't any any fish about!

Great footage Paddy. I always knew there was smoothies up there on the sand but tried for them a number of times and just no luck, but after that video Im trying again. My trailer threw a bearing and smashed the hub last weekend near Fintra so the new axle will arrive in Donegal tomorrow and I hope it will be fitted over the weekend.

That’s a great video, fascinating to see the behaviour of the fish. Thanks for sharing :)

great footage there. It looks fairly barren with some shells,looks a bit lifeless apart from the few species, I wonder how far off shore is this.

Hi Sean, that footage was close to shore in about 20-30ft of water. In a good year, which this definitely wasn't, I would have expected to see a lot more rays, sometimes 2-3 at a time chasing the baits.

thanks Paddy gosh the water is so clear. Great picture quality. Hopefully the ray shortage will improve.
