Back there again Saturday had 3 the weed was still hard going. It badly needs a day of rain to wash it well out to sea.

That's odd like isn't it? I thought once they come in in October they usually stay around unti January? That's only my limited experience from annual trips since maybe 2014 and I didn't go in 2016 or 2017.

A long time since I seen it that bad. Fished Ferrypoint Sunday morning 2 hours to the top of the tide and over high water had 14 cod and a flounder. With only 1 cod just over the 30cm mark.

In general the fishing is shocking at the moment. When you can catch golden grey mullet in the end of November there must be something wrong with the planet.

Look at the results of the "cod championships" not a single cod returned.

Some nice ones there Donal but seems like an early short one. Weird. What about whiting or painted rays off the Bandstand or Front Beach, anyone had any luck there?

Aye even the flounder are very patchy and small up top here, usually be getting well into the fat boys by now. No white trout about either, perch don't even seem to be shoaled up in fresh water yet. I think the next trip will be congers and if all that fails it might have to be rainbow bashing.

Fished Ferryoint on Thursday 9th, a few bites that didnt convert at low water. Twas a neap tide, moved around the corner due to weed and an hour before high got a small codling and 5 small bass. All returned to grow bigger. Crab activity was very high. Tough days fishing.
