10 foot surf rod up to 4 oz wanted
Im looking for recommendations for a light and short ( 10 foot roughly) rod for casting 2/3 occasionally 4 oz rolling leads with bait in light surf. I have (had) an abu enticer which was an inexpensive rod for this and was 20 years old and was perfect for this. Id like to find something similar or the more modern equivalent that allows for standing in surf holding the rod for hours so too long or heavy is tiring. Any thoughts appreciated.

I have a Shakespeare Agility 2 Bass rod, rated 2-4 Oz but it's 11'6" which is probably a bit long for what you want. Very nice rod nice and light and great paired with braid. I don't know if they do the Agility in a shorter size.
You are nearly into the realm of a heavy spinning rod there

I think Shortcircuit's right about the 10ft length being spinning rod territory.
I had the same fatigue problem years ago when fishing with an estuary rod. My low-tech solution was to wear an elasticated back support belt outside my jacket, and stick about a foot of plastic waste pipe under it at one side on the hip. With the pipe tipped a bit forward, the rod butt slipped into into it nicely and I only had to balance the rod with one hand. It sparked some smartass comments, but it worked, and cost an awful lot less than a new rod.

Hi Pat,Shakespeare Agility MPV sounds like an option.10ft 2-4ozs 3 piece.I have 2 that myself and my son use from time to time. They handle 3 ozs perfect and fine with 4ozs also.A bit stiff in the tip but for wrasse and feathering for elusive mackerel they work just fine.

I have one for years now and I give it awful abuse, no bother to it, they are stiff but you can hoist up full strings of 6 mackerel with it.
