Bing Bong Dublin Bass 25.08.2021

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 25/08/2021
Where: North Dublin
Who: Myself
Duration: 21:00-21:30
Low Water: 20:15
Equipment: 9ft Spinning rod
My Bait: Shamrock Bass Attack Shallow Feed 128mm Blue Lazer
Conditions: Warm, humid, calm waters, perfect for bass!
Result: 1 Lovely Bass

After being out on the boat all day catching mackerel I thought I'd pop out to my local bass mark for a quick hour at low tide see if I could get something nicer for dinner  on my 3rd cast I got an almighty take, the fish absolutely smashed the lure! Wasn't even there 10 minutes! Measured 50cm but was chunky, I reckon it was about 4-5lbs :D Really nice evening to be out fishing, can't beat it!

Jaysus - youd want to leave a few for next year - remember very slow breeders - that fish could be 10+ years old

amazing results as ever...

Thank you!

And yes I am quite conscious about conservation and I do more than simply following the regulations. I will only take bass that are 42-55cm and only if I am going to eat the fish that night or the next day, I am also making sure not to take too many from the same location. So far I have taken 11 bass for the table this year so that's only about 2 fish per month on average :)

Great stuff man! Those shamrock lures seem just as good as the feedshallow, must pick a few up and give them a try

Ah stop lad. Don't start going down that road. The lad caught one bass and your off.
Loving his reports and he's one of the only ones that posts up so leave the fella alone.
Great bass and report as always.

Lovely fishing! Love reading your reports. Taking a fish home for dinner is not a sin!

People work to look forward to fishing, for those who can't fish stay in work there's nothing better.

Well done, beautiful looking fish. It's the sort we all dream of and you deserve it for all the effort you are putting in. Keep doing what you are doing, especially sharing your reports with us. It is appreciated and definitely provides encouragement to the less active amongst us to wet a line.

Great fishing Gonzo, you are doing great on the lures. Its a grand way to fish, so much handier than lugging big rods, tripod, all the gear and then having to deal with stinky bait too!

Thank you!

Oh yeah so much easier, can go fishing on the drop of a hat without having to worry about digging bait and you can be on the move covering ground! Plus it's a great feeling getting a hit from a good sized fish, nice rush of adrenaline :D

Was out again today fished the first 3 hours of the flood and seriously on the move, I walked and fished about 6km of coastline using kilty lures and baited feathers but no joy!
