i was told that pirks are better than feathers for macks...is this true??

if the macks are in they will take anything. I know a guy who went fishing for macks one evening and all he had was a blue hook and he even got a few.

It depends on what you want from it. If you just want bait then feathers are the thing. If you want a bit of fun then a light spinning rod, braid and a small fixed spool reel will do the job.
