Kinsale

#1 Post by Its Ofishal »

Heading to Kinsale monday and tuesday looking for a shark or two on monday and then a bit of mixed fishing tuesday and given that Ive never caught any ray other than thornback would anyone have any rough idea where I might break my duck on any other type of ray.

No but goodluck and hope you produce.

How far off do you need to go to catch a shark and what type?

From the species list on this site it says that most rays are caught over the same ground, relatively shallow sandy clean ground!

Blonde Ray: https://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ray ... blonde.htm

Undulate Ray: https://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ray ... dulate.htm

Small-Eyed Ray: https://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ray ... ainted.htm

Also looking at the charts, I think you might have better luck on the other side of old kinsale head in Courtmacsherry bay where there are some shallow sand banks!
