Fish at last - Waterford Estuary, 13/05/2021

#1 Post by Teegerstk »

Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted a report on here.
I've been out about 8 times I'd say since the new year, with a blank each and every time I've fished, which definitely put me off future sessions especially with college going on etc.
Regardless, after finishing my final exams I headed out yesterday with a friend to a local pier. Having dug some ragworm at the bottom of the tide a few hours prior, I set up some larger crab/squid baits for a potential smooth hound although it wasn't meant to be.
For the first 2 hours nothing registered on the rod tips but once the light began to fade a few tippy taps developed into 2 flounder, a dogfish and a blenny (I think?), all taking the fresh ragworm.
It was a bit of a relief to finally catch a fish after so long (last time was November).
Hopefully the hounds aren't far off, I have to say I'm missing them!
Tight lines all.
