Lower Shannon Fishing

#1 Post by jonney »

Hey, does anyone have any info on fishing in the Lower Shannon (Plassey)?
Finding it hard to get definitive information online.
I can see that ESB manage it and do have trout permits.
But I also see that the entire river is catch and release.
So are these permits for catch and release trout?
My plan is to try a bit of coarse with by spinning and texas rigs.
Does anyone know why you'd need a trout permit on a catch and release river? Is it if you are using some trout specific gear (if there is such a thing)?

Get onto Mike in Shannon side baits. The esb section is for salmon and is a different permit to the lower Shannon one.
