Outboard Engine Maintenance Courses

#1 Post by Charty91 »

Hi There -

Looking for recommendations on outboard engine maintenance courses in Galway. Willing to travel once restrictions allow but would be great if someone here has done one in the past and could recommend.

Goal is to be able to confidently maintain/fix & root cause engine issues - to ensure I’m prepared for heading out on fishing trips on the lake/sea

Thanks in advance

I've not really heard of any courses like that. I'm sure your local outboard mechanic would point out the important things to you.
I think most anglers learn from experience. Firstly you can look at YouTube there is no shortage of videos on the subject.
You should be sure that your engine is well serviced to begin with and that the main systems to keep you running are in good order: Fuel and cooling.
Be familiar with the parts that you can deal with on the water. Clearing a blocked cooling pipe. Making sure that your fuel connections are working and how to check them etc.
