Frozen bait

#1 Post by MightBite »

Got some nice prawns and makky from lidl there the other day and brought some out fishin. Fired what was left in the freezer. Should it be alright for the next time? What's the best way to keep stuff when it's going to the freezer. Any method or tips would be greatly appreciated.

you can catch fish on refrozen bait. there is a lot to freezing bait down to keep it in good condition but for the most part a rinse in fresh water and a wrap in clingfilm should do the trick. the rinse in freshwater helps to keep air out and prevents freezer burn. freezer burn really makes bait tough and woody and generally useless. adding salt to your mackeral while letting it defrost a few hours before you use it really toughens it up and makes it much easier to use. it catches plenty of fish this way too.
