Fishing grounds off south west

#1 Post by Danok »

Hi guys,

About 3-4 hours by boat straight out into the Atlantic there is an area for some great deep sea fishing. I have forgotten the name of it and I want to do some research on it. Can anyone shine some light on some of the names out there?

Thanks

I'm not sure,
It's somewhere between Baltimore and Dingle I think.

Found it, it's called the Porcupine Seabight.

Lots of small tuna out there, to trolled lures. Great fun on spinning rods and braid. 400-4000m deep mind, and 50-60miles from safety. Needs a big and powerful boat to do safely. Went out for 3 days once with a rich guy and his game fishing crew (40ft sportsfisher) and we burnt €2500 in diesel. Last commercial vessel I heard of in trouble took 28hrs for the lifeboat to rescue! We've looked for a window in the weather to get out there and back, in safety in a 30ft boat, for years, but it just never happens with the Atlantic!
