Recommendations north Dublin

#1 Post by eoghanb »

Planning on heading out Friday evening,I was thinking laytown, how’s it fishing at the moment, should be a good surf on it Friday with a big tide .i fished it Saturday all I got was a pin whiting but it was blowing off the land so was fairly calm ,or would I be better trying a beach in north Dublin, Rogers town or malahide beaches

Tried Malahide Beach last week. The wind wasn’t ideal but hit a blank. Was thinking of trying Laytown soon.

I believe Gonzo fishes Rogerstown regularly so might have a recent report for you.

Hi Eoghan. I had a bass from Donabate at low tide a week ago at dawn on razor. There was a nice surf. Tried Portrane last night at high water again with razor and blanked but maybe if I had rag I would have fared better

It was baltic alright. Hard to detect bites with top light bouncing around in the wind. Baits came back untouched except for one which was completely gone so I think I may have missed one but not sure.

In those conditions it sometimes helps to rest the top of the rod and keep reeling in a tiny bit to keep tension and feel for any bumps
