Courtown 17/09/2020

#1 Post by Daz »

Normally I don’t go out Thursday evening for fishing but as I heard in news there could be other lockdown or something similar for Dublin- I jumped in car and head for Courtown for small little session.2 rods out - 2 hook flapper and pulley rig.bait - crab, lug.started early enough around 18.00.had a few dabs ,flounders and tiny smoothie pups.all small size but regularly.as the dark start things went quite.had no movement for an hour then one of the rods had slack line and the fish was on.it felt decent size and i was expecting anything but not the 58 cm cod!is it not too early for them? Anyways- I don’t usually bring fish measuring weights because I don’t get anything worth to weight so I don’t know the exact weight of the fish just length.next hour brought few doggies - but i had my fun and was packing back to Dublin.Tight lines.

According to Angling Addicts, 58cm works out at 4lb 4oz, nice fish especially from the shore.

That codling is making me think a trip southeast might be in order. Any showing around Waterford or Youghal?

I think Donal should be a man to ask about codling around Youghal area.
