Skerries Pier 04.09.2020 SQUID JIGGING

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 04/09/2020
Where: Skerries Pier
Duration: 23:30-01:15
High Water: 01:37
Equipment: 11ft bass rod with shimano 4000 reel.
Bait/Lures: Twisted boom arm trace with 2 squid lures attached and a 3oz lead at the end.
Conditions: Cold, full moon, murky water.
Result: Blank

Wanted to try Skerries again for some squid seeing as there was a red moon a few days ago and it's still pretty much a full moon. I parked down the very end of the pier with my car running and lights on full beam as I read squid are attracted to light! I would have a few casts then put the lures down sitting in front of the headlights to charge up while I warmed up in the car for a few minutes and repeat. 2 hours, all I caught was a heap of bootlace and a cold  I reckon the main issue was the water being very coloured, so I'll give it another try on the next full moon and hopefully there is a bit more clarity!

Yeah, respect to you for trying and I hope you get some soon. I think a good few people will wait till they see you getting them and then you will have company on those cold nights.
