Found myself in the west for a few days, the missus wanted to eat fresh fish so we stopped at Castle Point Kilkee Cliffs (had the Bass gear in the boot ;) Threw on a cebar and picked up 6 in a quick session, onto the BBQ on top of the cliff, enjoyed my dinner watching the dolphins rock past, think I scored a few brownie points with the missus. Other lads were catching buckets of them on the feathers.

Rocks in Clogherhead were full of lads trying for Mackerel on Monday morning. Some were catching in the short time I was watching but the seals seemed to be winning the war! Loads of them around

Happy days. Lovely part of the world. Hopefully the pollock fishing and ground fishing is just as good

Sorry lads, might have missed a couple of questions on my last post.

Anyways, plenty being caught off Coliemore harbour over the weekend.

Lads catching 20-30 over a couple of hours. 1-2 hours before high tide.

One lad showed up who didn't seem to know how to cast, kept tangling lines...I left soon after.

Yeah theres a load of them in, but a lot of small joeys. And feathers being cast with fairly reckless abandon. I wouldn't go near a crowd down there

Are neap tides generally bad for mackerel fishing? I never feel very confident with very low neap tides or north easterly winds for that matter but I don't tend to fish as much on those tides so that may be why

Plenty in Clogherhead around high tide. The past couple of days, loads of small ones, but still the occasional edible size.

Brought a pal fishing for his first time today. Went to Poolbeg as he fancied trying for mackerel. Caught a couple on lures with some light enough tackle which was good fun.

Fair few being caught with mackerel bashers but nothing overly consistent. Some pulling in 3/4 at a time and then none seen for over 30 mins.

Spent 2 and a half hours in Coliemore yesterday evening. Had no joy at all with bashers and feathers. A few lads at the end of the pier caught a few, but nothing consistent.

Tried fishing Skerries today and it was shoulder to shoulder with no one catching anything for the 2 hours I was there, went straight to Howth after and fished the east pier upto high tide and only caught 2 pollock..
