I know it's relatively early, but has anyone had any mackerel yet this year in the Dublin region.

West pier in Dun Laoghaire today, few hours feathering around the high tide, resulting in a single decent whiting.... But one guy pulled a full string of nice mackerel and there have been a few singles among others.

We watched a guy on a boat, perhaps 300m away, pulling one after another on a handline. He showed us a nearly full bucket of big macs when returning after an hour or so to the port! A lot of gulls diving in a distance too, so the macks are already here, just not at exactly at the shore yet.

Saw a guy pulling in a full string in Dillon's Pk while out for a walk about a week ago and they've been pulling in the odd single mack throwing feathers from Coliemore Harbour all week. I'd get a pain fishing there myself though, loads of kids jumping in to the harbour from the walls. You'd want to watch your backcast like a hawk.
