Thigh wader reccomendations

#1 Post by saving private brian »

Gents

Im looking to purchase a set of thigh waders fo beachfishing
Im hoping to use more for longer walks to the beach as my chesties are heavy and feel it at a days end.

What range would you reccomend that is reliable, comfy and light

Also unsure whether to go for pvc or nylon

Cheers

If its beach fishing go the whole hog and go for chest waders, unless you like a cold wet crotch. :D
Seriously, I find chest waders far better - avoids nasty splashes from the wave that was bigger than it looked, especially at night.
The only downside is the absolute requirements to empty your bladder before you get into them...
Using them pike fishing atm. Mine are cheap and cheerful plastic, which do sweat up a bit in better weather.

I have thigh waders as a backup to my normal pair and they are only a curse. Ungainly to wear and don't give much better protection than a pair of wellies. Especially in the sea where you could be wading knee deep and one little wave can soak you.
My recommendation is for breathable chest waders (not PVC, not neoprene). You can walk all day in them.

I have firm thoughts on spending big money on breathable waders! See my post in this thread

Have try off a pair of Climb8 breathable chesties. I have gotten great knock from them. Boat angling is maybe not as rough on them as barbed wire while walking but they are tough enough and have knee and rear end reinforcement.
At €135 they are well priced. I'd say mention the site here and you may even get a discount.

No waders at all after many types all leading round seams between 1 and 4 sessions only use now to dig in. Sticking to wellies n bib n brace
Keep her tight n bent over.
