They are on the way

#1 Post by donal domeney »

A Garryvoe beach, Oct 2nd. High water about 21:00
Fishing from 19:45 to 21:30
Baits used were crab and lug

Decided to get there before the big blow arrived as there would be a fair chance that it would bring plenty of weed with it.

First cast had a bite within minutes a nice tub gurnard to my surprise. A first for me from that venue.

Next in was a dog (no pic, they don’t need to be glorified)
That was followed by what I went there for. A cod of 37cm not big but they were about. :D :D

Next up was a double cod and poor cod

Followed by another double of cod an strap conger

There was a steady flow of fish for the time I was there. Added 3 more dogs a pin whiting and another cod about 35/36cm on my last cast.
End result 4 cod, 4 dogs, 1 strap conger, 1 tub gurnard, 1 poor cod and a pin whiting
Only reeled in small bits of weed twice

Dogs are best kept on a leash as per Cork County Council by-laws

I shouldn't complain I won the Munster Open Shore last year :D :D with dogs but then I was targeting them.
