People: Me and 2 mates

Duration: 9.30pm to 2.30am

Tide: low around 11.30

Weather: very calm and flat very light Northerly

Bait: Mackrel and squid and salted mackrel

Rigs: flappers, one up one down, pulleys

Results: 1 Thorn back, 6 doggies

Report:

fished the rocks up round the back of leenan pier for a few hours just after high tide nothing to report other than lots of lost gear :(

Headed to the chippy and on to fish Fahan at about 9.30pm.

Had no idea the current here was soo bad. my first cast ended up wrapped round the buoy and i cast a good 50 yards to the side of it lol.
Mates first cast produced a Thornie have to say he was a bit disappointed tbh he caught it and thought it was a clump of weed until it moved then he wouldnt touch it lol. was expecting a bit of a fight but it was just like catching a doggie he said. anyway was the first one we've had and id guess it was about 5lb. I Got a pic with it (my fish now lol) ill fire up later and then returned it. Amazing fish!

after that i had a few disasters, my cheapy multiplier died, my rig some how lost its 50lb snood from the swivel, and i lost my bait elastic :(

my mate using salted mackrel was getting a fish a cast, we tried the fresh stuff and squid and managed 2 fish he got 4 on the salted stuff plus the thornie will be getting more of this before i go next time i think!

all in all a good day out.

Left over from your last trip. Bung the mack in a plastic container with a layer of salt above and below. Keep cool and dark. Tends to whiff a bit....
