where to go (1/2 hr from belfast)

#1 Post by thompo »

hello

day off tomorrow so might try getting out. Dont want to travel to far cuz ive drove over 400miles last week for fishing lol

was thinking maybe ardglass or painted rocks in browns bay or possibly the gobbins. suppose my main problem is i havent fished either of these marks.

are they ok to fish alone ie not too dodgy? what tide is best? its high around 1pm-1.30pm depending on location. looking at the reports i can expect to target mackrel and pollock spinning with wrasse and dogs to bait?

anyother spots worth looking at say half an hour or so from belfast? be heading out about 11 or so to fish 2hrs and a few down.

cheers Neil

not wise to fish the Gobbins alone as at high tide the swells can get pretty harsh to say the least.always fish it with someone else.you can also get cut off at the beginning of the gobbins (wises eye) at full tide so be prepared to sit it out till the tide drops.

will have to get down to North Down sometime. ive fished Orlock a week ago, bangor pier and have tried D,Dee in the past but blanked everytime except some tiny pin whiting so i dont really like the place :/ but im told theres fish there i just cant catch them lol (wouldnt mind finding that wrasse mark though ;) )

well what a day :D

weather was great and i added 4 new species in total, 2 for this year (mackrel and codling) and 2 firsts for me (conger and red cod) :D

fished browns bay to 4pm, went home and my mate wanted to head out had plenty of bait left over so headed to garron point and fished 7pm to 11.30pm was a great night

ill fire a proper report up
