Cushendun is fine to fish at night, infact it is probably best fished then. You could pitch you tent on the rough ground beside the hurley pitches, it's fine there, I did it last year. The only thing is if there is an easterly wind you can nearly forget about it. The Bro and I went up last year, it was blowing NE and we had very little all night! Some mates went up the following eve and had dogs, bull huss, flounder, pollock and colie's all from fairly close in, but the wind was blowing differently.
Baits to use: Just the norm, rag, mackerel, sandeels, and lug. You can get a fair few dogs on fish bait from up there.
Car-parking, down the edge of the hurley pitches towards the beach. If you drive through Cushendun round the bad bends you will see a loo block on your left had side, drive past it and go on up the road, you then come to a left hand bend. Just on the bend you will see a stone pillar with a lane beside. That's were you want to be.
Rigs; anything really, flapper or clipped down it doesn't really matter. Keep you hooks about size 1, that should cover all you are going to catch.
Idiot's: Never had a problem up there. You get some people walking down the beach at all hours but there always fairly friendly.
Advice: Keep you fish baits in a coolbox, there is a load of cats that run around and they can have you bait away before you notice. It's happened to me in comps from there.
Hope this helps
