Wicklow 19/08/17

#1 Post by Al »

Myself and MB3 fished a wicklow Beach on Saturday evening 6-11.

Weather was great and wind had died down completely flattening out the sea.
Targets where Ray and smoothies as usual :) Fishing wasn't hectic with fish being caught late into the cast but I think we managed to pick up a fish on almost every cast. Smoothies unfortunately didn't show but we had a few thornies although they were quite small and the usual dog, dabs and whiting.
Crab was prob the least successful bait on the day with rag, sandeel and mac picking up the majority of the fish.

Nice relaxing session and good to fish a Wicklow beach with Mark again.

Sounds like a nice session with a mix of species. Are Ray a common catch from the shore down that way? I always thought you really had to travel west to target them so good to know they can be got closer to home

You would have a better chance at catching them west alright, they can be caught but not in the same numbers, distance is usually key for me from where I catch them.
