Mayo Beach

#1 Post by del04 »

Decided to have a cast yesterday eve around 9.30pm. Tide was turning just after 10 so decided on a mark and hit the road. Got to the beach and set up one rod. Within 5 mins had a rattle but lost it on the way in[TIRED FACE][TIRED FACE].....rigged up again and went to cast and the dreaded crack off happened!!!! So annoying. Rigged up again and cast out, using a 2hook flapper with Sandell and Lugworm cocktail. Nothing happening at distance so set up the second rod and cast into the surf, close to mouth of the river, again a 2 hook flapper with mackerel as bait.
2 mins is all it took for the tip to start bouncing. Set the hook and reeled in a nice flounder. Happy days!![SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES][SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]
As I was taking hook out, the second rod hooked up. Got flounder back in water and reeled in second rod. A doggie on the end.
Thought it was gonna be an exciting evening, but for some reason they died off again, but I did get another doggie before I decided to pack up at 1.30am.
Was still happy leaving as its always good to get a few fish[GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES][GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Nice clean looking flounder, I believe it's hard going on some of them Mayo beaches.
How are the rock marks fishing lately?

Haven't fished any of the rock marks yet. Been sticking to the beaches but I intend to get to the rock marks soon...
