American Lures

#1 Post by SHANE R »

Hi all! My parents have just brought me back a huge bag of fishing gear from the States and while some of the stuff is much the same as our lures and plastics some of it is quite weird. Alot of the stuff seems to be aimed towards bass fishing, the American kind i would imagine. In particular there is some plastic lures called 'Salty Tubes' these things look like squid , are covered in salt, for what reason i don't know, and they take a jig head. Has anyone ever seen these or used one of these lures and would they be any use in Ireland?

well it's like the old saying SHANE you never know till you try try them 3 or 4 times on 3 or 4 different marks and see what happens mate for all you know they could work a treat 90% of lure fishing is trail and error in my opinion so give them a bash

they are called tube jigs and are used for bottom bouncing on the retreive and are used in the US for lagge and smallmouth bass. All i can say is give them a try, you never know what you may catch with them.

Have used the "Tubes", for a few years now, (Though only on pike and perch). They are deadly for these two species. I will give them a go for Bass soon, as I have no doubts they will work. Just try them in shallow water, and watch the action. You will be impressed, and I am sure your local fish population will be as well.
