Shimano Alvicio Telescopic Rod or similar?

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Shimano Alvicio Telescopic Rod or similar?

#1 Post by kieran »

Has anyone used the Shimano Alivio telescopic rod?

Or similar? Good? Bad?

I had a very light telescopic rod for LRF which a *@$£*£$"£ lunker Ballan Wrasse destroyed - my own fault, dozing a bit in the sunshine. They've come on a lot quality-wise.

The plan is to put it and an empty reel into my carry on luggage, buy all the rest when I land in Spain.

Any recommendations?

Would you consider a 4 piece travel rod-they are a bit more expensive but in my experience they are more robust than telescopics (of which I have broken two)

I have a rovex lure pro quad.its 8 ft breaks down to 4 equal sections. Rated 20-40g but will cast upwards of 12g fine.fits in a travel suitcase.

I have a Mission 6 travel rod in a tube but thought it would be too big. Might take a look at it again, thanks

The one I have wont fit in the case in its tube-but it's not an issue as I have the case well packed with clothes etc

Have a look at Daiwa Sea Hunter Travel Bass, can be fished as bait rod at 11ft casting 90g or 9ft spin casting 60g, 6 piece.
Got one last year for the Med, fitted in suitcase perfectly bubble wrapped....didn't catch much but the rod came home intact lol
Worth a look IMHO
